You are ready to take classes but have a few questions…
Where are the classes?
All regular classes are at Happy Soul Dance Studios, 3089 Oxford St, 2nd floor, Halifax, NS, (Entrance is on the side of the building on Bayers Rd.)
How much are classes?
Check the Prices page for details
Students get an average of $2 discount on every class and The Freedom Passes are a great deal
How do I pay?
We accept email transfers to Free to Move Dance School, cash cheques and email transfers.
How do I register?
Send us an email or phone. To register for the class please give us your name, contact information, and the name of the class you want to take. This will reserve a spot for you in the class. You are also welcome to drop-in to any of our classes to see if you are interested. You can always register in person. We accept new students in our classes until the second class in a session, unless it is an ongoing class, then you are welcome anytime. We do welcome drop-ins.
Can I attend more than one level for extra practice?
You are welcome to attend any lower level classes when you are registered in a session of classes, or repeat a level for extra practice if you choose to do this we will give you a 50% discount on the repeated class.
Do you offer private lessons?
We do offer private lessons, we charge $50.00 per per hour for a private class, $25 for a half hour and $100 for a small group.
How do I know if a class is cancelled because of bad Weather?
We decide if we will cancel a class minimum 4 hours before the class. When we decide to cancel we will then proceed to email everyone, in order to let them know. We will also post the information on facebook and on the front page of our website.
What do I wear?
Wear light comfortable clothes in which you can move in easily, this is especially recommended for the Body Movement classes.
What shoes do I wear?
For salsa wear shoes with a smooth sole if possible, it makes turning easier. We recommend wearing a flat comfortable shoe, but you are welcome to wear Latin ballroom leather soled shoes for the dance classes if you wish. For the Afro-Latin classes please wear flat shoes with a smooth sole if possible.
Is there anything else I need for class?
Dancing is good exercise, remember to bring water. We also sell water for $1
What will I learn during the salsa/kizomba lesson?
Feel free to discuss this with your instructor. Partnered dance classes should include musicality, footwork and technique, partner work and hopefully, improvisation! Afro-Latin classes should include body isolations, stretching, detailed work on specific moves, and some fun improvisation!
